Dutch company launches new ePrivacy platform for simple cookie and third-party script management compliant with GDPR and ePrivacy.
Amsterdam, Netherlands — Digital Data Solutions BV launches CookieFirst, a new ePrivacy platform for third-party script and cookie consent management, offering statistics, periodic cookie scans, automated Cookie Declaration, banner customization, multiple language options, and more.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) stipulates that websites cannot load third-party scripts, such as those enabling a chat, collecting user data, or profiling for online advertisements, until the visitor has given explicit permission. Websites that comply with this cookie legislation show a banner that lets visitors choose to allow or refuse different cookie categories.
(Un)informed Consent: Studying GDPR Consent Notices in the Field, a study by Ruhr University of Bochum and the University of Michigan, says that, in more than 80% of cases studied, third-party scripts load and place cookies before the user gives permission. This may not always be intentional, however — it could be the result of the incorrect implementation of cookie consent software.
CookieFirst: simple, effective cookie and third-party script management
CookieFirst aims to make it as easy as possible for companies to comply with EU cookie legislation. Rather than placing third-party tracking scripts — Google Analytics, Hotjar tracking, or Intercom chat, for example — on their website, managers place them directly into their CookieFirst portal, meaning only the CookieFirst script needs to be placed on the website itself. CookieFirst generates a banner and consent panel, allowing the user to determine which scripts they wish to allow.
Automated Cookie Declaration
In order to fully comply with the AVG, ePrivacy, and cookie legislation, a website must have a complete overview of all the cookies placed on their site called a Cookie Declaration. In addition to creating a consent panel, CookieFirst periodically scans a website for scripts and automatically generates a Cookie Declaration, ensuring the consent panel is up to date and compliant.
Advanced insights and options available
In addition to its main functionalities, CookieFirst provides insights into statistics and consent audit trails. The platform also offers options to personalize the cookie banner and consent panel, including multiple languages and design customizations to fit seamlessly into any website.
Digital Data Solutions BV plans to expand the CookieFirst platform with various new privacy and compliance functionalities which will be announced on the CookieFirst roadmap.
